Better Power, Part 1 — Batteries

Writer's picture: Ron FreemanRon Freeman

I replaced the AGM batteries in my camper last summer with Lion Energy Safari UT 1300 lithium batteries. These are amazingly light, were about middle of the road on price (as far as LiFePO4 batteries go), and hold a lot more usable power than my old AGM batteries did. (105 Ah / 1344 Wh vs. 79 Ah @ 100% Depth of Discharge — DoD — with the new ones vs. 50% on the old … over 2.6 x the total available power!) The Safari 1300s are also crazy light at ~23 pounds each vs. the old AGMs at >52# each!

So, well over twice the power for less than 1/2 the weight. Aside from the cost, it's a no-brainer!

Check out Lion Energy for more.
